When you use an AI feature, we send only the information needed for that request. This may include relevant profile and nutrition targets, recent meal intake, dietary preferences and allergies, pantry or on-hand foods, kitchen and preparation context, and the text or image you submit. We do not send your password or payment-card details to AI providers.
Google Gemini API is the primary AI service for meal planning and food recommendations. Baseten Model APIs (Inkling Small) may process the same limited information only as a transient fallback when the primary planning service is temporarily unavailable. OpenRouter/Qwen remains in use for the Health Agent and other AI features where it is specifically configured.
AI providers process requests under their service terms and our account configuration. They may retain limited request data or operational logs for security, abuse monitoring, reliability, or legal requirements. Retention and data-use practices vary by provider and configuration, so we do not promise zero retention.
Your account, profile, meal logs and generated media are stored on self-hosted infrastructure in Sydney, Australia. We use PostgreSQL for application data, a self-hosted authentication service, private object storage and Redis-backed job queues. Access controls restrict each user to their own data.
We advertise WholeBite inside other apps and games. When you install the Android app, our measurement partner Tenjin receives your device's Google Advertising ID, App Set ID and Google Play install referrer so that the install can be matched to the advertisement that led to it, and reports that match to the advertising network we bought the placement from (AppLovin).
This is used for attribution and campaign measurement only. It is never joined to your meal logs, health data, or profile, and we do not use it to target ads inside WholeBite — WholeBite shows no ads.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. The iOS app does not include this SDK.
The App is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
